Gatsby's Appreciation for Love

The Great Gatsby, so far in my mind is a web of lies and deceit. Tom and Daisy are prime examples of the unethical behavior that is in pretty much every scene of this movie. Both hold love affairs behind there marriage. there wealth and arrogance show that marriage should not be based on riches alone. Jay although is pure at heart and has loved daisy for quite along time. Gatsy, not always being of wealth, would have at sometime appreciated such things as the love of another.

  1. So then the question is, do you think Jay and Daisy would have been happy together?

  2. I don't think there is such thing as a happy ending in this story. The love affairs really ruined everything for both families and i dont think any of this is going to change at all.

  3. I don't think that Jay and Daisy knew enough about each other to appreciate what love truly is or what it can do. i think they tried to recreate the "magic" of 8 years ago only to find out that there really wasn't much to go on.

  4. I agree with everything you said. Especially the part about the web of lies. One lie leads to many and in the end you start to forget what is true and what isn't.

  5. I'd like to add that I agree with nick because Daisy's infatuation for a poor man was translated as true love, but in actuality it was only a forbidden lust between two strangers of different social status
