American Dream Poetry

I think that the poem I, Too, Sing America by Langston Hughes reminds me the most of what we have been talking about in class concerning the American Dream. The most important line in the whole poem I think is the last line, "I, too, am America." To me that statement recognizes that all of us make up America and the American dream. The ability to have the freedom to dream.

  1. I agree that everyone has the freedom to dream. Just like Hughs says, he will be able to sit and laugh along with everyone else and they won't be ashamed. He can dream too without being burdened by others.

  2. I believe the same thing. In the beginning I thought differently, though. I was blinded by the stereotypical ways of most people; but I truly see what makes America America. It's the people and dreams that it holds.
